[NEW TREND] Have you tried “Jewel Wasabi”?
“Jewel Wasabi” is a wasabi-processed product from Tamaruya Honten. It became a hot topic on SNS in October known as “Wasabi beads”. When a release announcement was posted on Twitter, it was trending, retweeted more than 10,000 times, and sold out immediately on the internet.
Online shops sell in jars for 550 yen. However, in Marugoshi Apita Nagoya-Minami store, surprisingly it is 398 yen per tube (tax excluded). These wasabeads are sold at some parts of Marukoshi in Japan, but they are sold out continuously because they are popular items.
These glowing wasabeads are beautiful with its transparent green feature. It looks like green salmon roe, and it is almost the same size as the actual salmon roe.
Most people think of sushi by just hearing the word “wasabi”, so I bought a package of sushi at the deli section. First, I put one piece into my mouth. It’s a little firmer than salmon roe, but when you chew into it, it has a crunchy texture and a pungent wasabi flavor. This is wasabi itself. I topped it on sushi and the contrast of the orange and green color of the salmon roe and wasabi beads is beautiful. Also, it doesn’t interfere with the taste of the sushi, and the texture combination goes well together.
This wasabeads can pretty much be used in anything, so better get your hands on it before it’s too late!
